Marsha Emerman est productrice, réalisatrice, scénariste, chercheuse et enseignante. Née aux Etats-Unis, elle immigre en 1989 en Australie. C'est en enseignant l'anglais à des réfugiés politiques qu'elle a appris la situation du Timor Oriental. Elle réalise des documentaires depuis 20 ans. Par ailleurs, elle est la co-fondatrice de la société de production Fruitful Films, spécialisée dans le documentaire.
Marsha Emerman is a documentary producer, director, writer and researcher with over twenty-five years experience. Her film "Children of the Crocodile," a personal history of East Timor, was broadcast on SBS, screened in cinemas, and showed in festivals around the world. Marsha gained a Masters Degree in Cinema Studies from San Francisco State University. Since migrating to Australia in 1989, she has taught documentary filmmaking at the VCA School of Film & TV, Australian Film, Television and Radio School, and other universities. Her 'Women and Documentary Film' class, and expert knowledge of women's contribution to documentary, have led to visiting lectureships at the University of Oregon and Portland State University. Marsha continues to make visually and emotionally evocative films on arts, culture, and social issues.
