Debates and discussions at the 19th Festival - 2007

In connection with the films in the competition, these debates and discussions will provide occasions throughout the festival to comment on issues and events related to the films. The debates will feature film directors and/or other guest speakers.


All members are invited to come and share their ideas at these encounters. Debates will be held at the Halle Saint-Pierre just a 2-minute walk from the Trianon Theatre.

Four time-slots have been reserved for debates and discussions during the festival:

Saturday 3 at 12:30 p.m.: Incest

Saturday 3 at 8 p.m.: Women Gorwing Older

Sunday 4 at 12:30 p.m.: Religions and Homosexuality

Sunday 4 at 15:00 p.m. : Merchandising Women's Bodies

"La traversée du silence" ("Crossing the Silence"), a documentary by Géraldine and Charlotte Sroussi (France, 60') is composed of first-person accounts by women who were victims of incest or rape as children. In addition, it presents the organisation created by one of the women, in order to help others speak about what they went though.

Women Gorwing Older
Debate organised by two organisations: Les Babayaga and Terre de Jubilation after the screening entitled "Retraite arc-en-ciel" ("A Rainbow Retreat").

Religions and Homosexuality
"Hineini" : Coming Out in a Jewish High School, Film de Irena Fayngold, (USA) 60’
Hineini, "Here I am" in Hebrew, recounts one student's brave struggle to form a gay students' group within her Jewish high school, and the transformational impact her campaign had on those around her.

Merchandising Women's Bodies
The audience is invited to discuss this subject after the screening entitled “Flesh”.
