Mary J. Daniel is a media artist and educator, with a 20-year history of making hard-to-categorize works focussing on the poetry and artistry of everyday experiences. She has a background in experimental film, intertwining interest in educational and community-based video, and several years experience teaching time-based media production, including at Purdue University, Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design and the University of British Columbia – Okanagan. Her body of work encompasses an award-winning anthology of experimental shorts, a feature film, and a series of collaborative documentaries. Her films and videos have travelled international, queer, women's, and experimental festival circuits; screened at Cinematheques, micro-cinemas, universities and galleries; and featured in curated programmes of Canadian works, including at the Kassel Documentary Festival and the Anthology Film Archives in New York City.
