18th Festival: Nawal
Nawal
Opening the festival this year, an exceptional concert by Nawal, one of the most stunning women’s voices from Africa. From the Comoro Islands, Nawal is the first woman singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the islands to perform in public. Blending traditional and contemporary sounds, Nawal’s music weaves a harmonious dialogue between Indian and Arabo-Persan. With her on- and off-stage partner, percussionist Melissa, she is currently concocting her second album. The festival concert will provide a sneak preview of their latest creations.

17th Festival: Tribad
Tribad at the Trianon, the Friday 28th Oct 2005.

16th Festival: Les Fées Minées
They say they do "Rural Anarko Queer Folk." Incurred (and anti-feminist bullshit in general), Les Fées Minées literally seduced us last year (they sold some CD stand "musicians"), both by their friendliness, simplicity and commitment in life. Cathy Peylan sent us his photos of the concert. The team saw the Com'concert live Tribad excellent (trio-guitar-bass voice, rather "world" www.tribad.org).But here's the "short list": Chimeres (rock, the site has some tracks and video), Les Fées Minées, and Tribad (rather "world", the site has some track to listen). The concert will take place at the Trianon, the 28th Oct 2004.

15th Festival: Anatomie Bousculaire
First off, we’ve noticed that there are more and more musicians who claim to be politically active or feminist. Is this a good sign, we wonder….? Whatever. You will soon see on our site a page dedicated to female musicians. We’ve been in touch with Anne Gorny, Carolka, Zrazy from Ireland, Chimeres (site in french), Caro, Dillie, and we’ve renewed contact with the groups we met last year: Tania et Nadia (ex-Sratatella), Les Fées Minées, Mafucage, and Kage Tewe. Oh, and this year, our bands have a stand during the festival. So you will be able to buy CDs and T-shirts from them and discover their universe. Also this year, it is our great pleasure to present Anatomie Bousculaire in concert at the Trianon, on Friday 7th November at 7 PM for the opening of the 15th festival. They are going to rock the place!!! You may have come across this « feminine power trio » at the Pulp, at the Glaz'Art or on the Alternat river boat? Two sisters, Cécile (aggressive guitar and ambiguous voice) and Anne-Julie (bass and androgynous voice) and their constant accomplice, Alice (heavy beat and a voice somewhere between between chorus and cry). An authentic band, already familiar with Cineffable :).

14th Festival - 2002: Ma, with Juliette Dragon
Our concert committee was delighted to present the live performance of Ma and Juliette Dragon, in the main auditorium of the Trianon, on Wednesday 30th October, 2002. In the quest for a suitable group to open the festival in 2002, we were in contact with no fewer than 11 bands: Ulrika, Satatella, Les Fées Minées, Mafucage, Anatomie Bousculaire, Belladonna 9CH, Vespertine, Kadge Tewe. Living in Paris since August 2000 with her own home studio, Ma released her first (self-produced) album in February 2001 (selected by McM and Vitaminic 2001). She has worked with Belooga and Juantrip, organizing electronica evenings which combine music (dj & live), videos & flash animations and diverse performances by Juliette Dragon (dance, pyrotechnics et cross-dressing): xtatic. Ma has released a sound travel diary with 4 tracks and her new album: links (march 2002) with the mixed sounds of the 80's, disco house and electro jazz. In summer 2002, she worked on an album entirely in French comprising 14 electronica songs. The album is called "In French Please..." and was due for release at the end of 2002. For more information (MP3, albums for sale...) visit Ma’s site.

13th Festival - 2001: Dun Leia
In 2001, two young women from Caen, members of the pop rock band Dun Leia, opened the festival. Unplugged, with fresh and melancholic melodies, their sensitive lyrics and perfectly matched suave voices seduced a large proportion of the audience. This very promising and charming duo, as comfortable in French or in English, have previously opened for Beverly Jo Scott’s, and started our celebrations in the best way possible. Yet another reason to come to the festival …

12th festival - 2000: Myriam Sultan
Myriam not only has an exceptional voice and is a real live performer, but she also writes most of the songs she sings. Influenced by the arab-andalusian music from Constantine, where she was born, as well as by music from Algeria, North Africa and the Middle-East, Myriam uses intelligence and skill to produce a harmonious mix of traditional and contemporary innovative music. myriamsultan.blogspot.com
