Opening Night Concert of the 12th Festival 2000

Wednesday, November 1st - 7 P.M.

Not only does Myriam Sultan have an exceptional voice and true stage presence, but she also writes most of her own songs.

Influenced by Arab-Andalusian music from her native Constantine, as well as Algerian, North African and Middle Eastern music more broadly, Myriam Sultan's intelligence and talent allow her to produce an innovative and harmonious mix of traditional and contemporary styles.

Because Myriam Sultan is most at home on stage, most of her work has been live, rather than recorded in the studio. For her latest album, Waälache, which she produced and recorded on her own, she worked with some of the best Middle-Eastern musicians of our times.
