Deborah Strutt is a Feminist activist and filmmaker, involved in the Brisbane collective radio station Triple Z in the 1980's to the 1990's making feminist films "My Cunt" that caused censorship and outrage.

Lou Glover grew up in New South Wales repeating the same homophobic and racist taunts she heard around her. Though she was raised in a white family, she was dark-haired and dark-eyed and was often asked if she was Aboriginal--a suggestion she vehemently denied. It wasn't until she came out as a lesbian and left the racist and homophobic environment in which she was raised that she began to explore her ancestry. And that's when she uncovered the secret that her father's family had been hiding for three generations. In this upbeat tape from Australia, Lou Glover tells her own story as lesbian, one-time police officer, and recently-discovered Aboriginal woman.

She holds a BA in cultural studies from Hampshire College and an MFA in film directing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television.

Avant de réaliser Chutney Popcorn, Nisha Ganatra a été assistante sur de nombreux longs métrages. Diplomée de l'université de New York, elle a étudié auprès de Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese et Barbara Kopple. Nisha a déjà deux courts métrages à son actif : Junky Punky Girlz en 1996 (présenté au 9ème festival) et Drown Soda en 1997. Elle travaille actuellement sur une nouvelle comédie intitulée Super.

Before making "Chutney Popcorn," Nisha Ganatra was an assistant on many films. A graduate of New York University, she studied with Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese and Barbara Kopple. She is currently working on a new comedy called "Super."

Michelle Citron is an award-winning media artist whose work includes "Daughter Rite" (film) and "As American As Apple Pie" and "Cocktails & Appetizers" (CD-ROMs) She has received grants from the NEA, NEH and IAC. Her work has been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, MCA/Chicago, as well as the New Directors, Berlin, London, and Viper film and media festivals. She is the author of the book Home Movies and Other Necessary Fictions. She is a Professor in the Department of Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University.

"Dear Mom and Dad" is an extremely difficult story of familial homophobia. Shot in four locations (a super market, the back of a car, a laundry mat, a living room), the main character meditates on the damage she is suffering from her parents' rejection. Throughout each event, the character recites an aggravated letter written to her parents. The content of the letter is a mixture of the language of resistance and the splayed kind of narrative of trauma. "Dear Mom and Dad" draws inspiration from the music video format in terms of its style and sound editing.

Actuellement doctorante, Sharon Sliwinski étudie la pensée sociale et politique à Toronto, et s'est faite remarquer dès son premier court métrage, This is Just to Say, en 1999. Depuis, elle a réalisé Working Emergency et Piano en 2000.

Sharon Sliwinski is a professor at the University of Western Ontario, teaching in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies and the Centre for the Study of Theory and Criticism. Although she now rarely works on the production side of video, she writes and teaches broadly at the intersection of politics and aesthetics. Her book Human Rights In Camera, will be published by the University of Chicago Press in 2011 and she is currently writing a book called Dream Matters: On the Social and Political Significance of Dream-life.

Mary Guzmán is a director, screenwriter and producer. After she graduated from SF State with an emphasis in animation, she ventured into live-action movies with the 13-minute drama "After the Break." The success of the short -- which played at gay and lesbian fests as far away as Japan and was picked up for distribution by Frameline -- spurred her on, and she decided to try a feature-length comedy.
