Encounters and Debates 2007

Halle Saint-Pierre, just a 2-minute walk from the Trianon Theatre

In connection with the films in the competition, these debates and discussions will provide occasions throughout the festival to comment on issues and events related to the films. The debates will feature film directors and/or other guest speakers.
All members are invited to come and share their ideas at these encounters.

Saturday 3 November

12:30 p.m. -  Incest

La traversée du silence, a documentary by Géraldine et Charlotte Sroussi (France, 60'), is composed of first-person accounts by women who were victims of incest or rape as children. In addition, it presents the organisation created by one of the women, in order to help others speak about what they went though.

8 p.m. -  Feminine aging

Aging in the singular? aging in the plural? in a common place? Or in clustered spaces? Women engaged in action and reflection (Repaire de Jubilation, La Maison des Babayagas, Voisinage Choisé) will come and present their projects to us which allow women, among themselves, to prepare for this very important period of life.

Sunday 4 November

12:30 p.m. -  Religions and Homosexuality

After the screening of the documentary Hineini by Irena Fayngold, the public will be invited to take part in a debate/discussion around the subject of homosexuality and religions.
Other films dealing with this same subject will be screened during the festival, including Triple Minority by Amber Sharp and My Sister Zahra by Saddie Choua.

3 p.m. -  Merchandising Women's Bodies

At the same time as the screening of the film Flesh by Tami Wilson and the video of the choreographic piece Fleisch by Anja Hempel, we invite you to continue the session with a discussion with the public, around the questions of the flesh, its alienation, its commodification, its contemporary instrumentalizations and, by extension, those of the female body.
In the presence of Anja Hempel (choreographer of Fleisch, FSPACE) and Hélène Marquié (dancer, research professor at the University of Nice).
