Sephora MONTEAU & Éléonore COYETTE

Sephora Monteau is a founding member and vice-president of SineNouvèl, an collective of activitst filmmakers and photographers in Haiti that is raising awareness about the country's lack of cinematographic infrastructure. She also founded the feminist organization Nègès Mawon, which works for girls' and women's rights and place in Haitian society. Sephora Monteau chose to breather her own experience into this, her first film, to give herself an opportunity to denounce what has been fuelling her activism for many years. Her activism and her artisty came together in this film. She wrote the dialogues in Creole, bringing Haitian reality to the screen in this co-written screenplay. Sephora Monteau and Éléonore Coyette met in 2018 in Port-au-Prince. Éléonore is a Belgian feminist and filmmaker. They decided to make this film together, side by side, to give shape to their common revolts but also to try to breathe a wind of sisterhood that without knowing it they were nurturing between them since the beginning.
