Encounters and Debates 2004

Halle Saint-Pierre, just a 2-minute walk from the Trianon Theatre

In connection with the films in the competition, these debates and discussions will provide occasions throughout the festival to comment on issues and events related to the films. The debates will feature film directors and/or other guest speakers.
All members are invited to come and share their ideas at these encounters.

Saturday 30 October

12 p.m. -  Meet "Bagdam espace lesbien"

Fury and Exaltation - What lesbians think about the meaning of the word "lesbian"

With Katy Barasc, Michèle Causse, Danielle Charest, Michèle Larrouy, Hélène Marquié, Nicole-Claude Mathieu... and members of the italian Fuoricampo group (Bologna).


2 p.m. -  Meet Dalila Kadri, film director of Fireflies

After the screening of the documentary Fireflies by Dalila Kadri, the public will be invited to take part in a debate/discussion around the subject of lesbians with non-French origins.


4 p.m. -  Meet the "Coordination Lesbienne de France" (CLF)

The Coordination Lesbienne de France (French Lesbian Coordination) will answer questions about their actions for lesbian visibility and rights as well as their network organization in France.

Sunday 31 October

12 p.m. -  Discussion about Femmes actives

After the screening of the documentary Femmes actives (Active Women), produced by Collective Les Pénélopes, the public will be invited to take part in a debate/discussion around economics alternative projects managed by women.


2 p.m. -  Drag kings

Related to the drag king workshop and to the screening session that took place on saturday, a discussion around drag king culture.


4 p.m. -  NO! (A Work in Progress)

After the screening of the documentary NO! (A Work in Progress), the public will be invited to take part in a discussion with the film director Aishah Shahidah Simmons.

Monday 1 November

12 p.m. -  Broadcast of the soundtrack J/E - Lesbiamorphose

Discussion about Monique Wittig's work with Syn Guérin et Eugénie Kuffler.
